Valley Studio — New York

A fine interiors workroom serving New York’s design community since 1985. We partner with interior designers and architects across Manhattan, Brooklyn, Westchester, and the Hamptons to fabricate custom drapery, upholstery, reupholstery, shades, and furniture to exacting specifications.

Recent New York projects

A selection of New York work (described without client detail):

  • With designer Mark D. Sikes, a Manhattan apartment — living- and dining-room upholstery, wall and ceiling upholstery, and woven-wood shades.
  • With designer Mark D. Sikes, a room at a Manhattan decorator show house — drapery, wall upholstery, and custom upholstered seating.
  • With Home Studios, a Manhattan restaurant dining room — banquette and seat upholstery, ceiling upholstery, drapery, and Roman shades, fabricated and installed in our Long Island City workroom.

A workroom built for designers

Valley Studio is a trade workroom. We don’t sell off-the-shelf product — we build to your drawings, fabrics, and finishes. For New York designers and architects, that means a single partner for window treatments, upholstered furniture, and bespoke pieces, executed with the craftsmanship the work demands.

Every project is measured, fabricated, and finished by hand. We work from your specified materials and details, and we communicate directly with your team throughout fabrication and installation.

What we make in New York

How a New York project runs with us

We work strictly to the trade — with the designer or architect, not directly with the homeowner. A project starts with your drawings, specifications, and chosen materials. Most New York commissions arrive C.O.M. (customer’s own material), the fabric or leather you’ve specified, shipped to our workroom against the order.

We measure on site — Manhattan, Brooklyn, Westchester, or out to the Hamptons — fabricate by hand, and keep your team updated through the build. We then coordinate white-glove delivery and installation throughout the New York area, scheduling around building access, COIs, and service-elevator windows where a project requires them.

Frequently asked questions

Do you work directly with homeowners?

No. Valley Studio is a trade-only workroom serving interior designers and architects across Manhattan, Brooklyn, Westchester, and the Hamptons. If you’re a homeowner, we’d be glad to work with you through your designer.

How does C.O.M. (customer’s own material) work for a New York order?

You specify the fabric or leather and have it shipped to our workroom against the order. We confirm yardage from the drawings before cutting, so a New York designer can source from any showroom and know the goods are reserved to the right project before fabrication begins.

What are typical lead times for a New York commission?

Lead times depend on the piece and on receipt of your C.O.M., but custom drapery and upholstery for New York projects generally run several weeks from approved measurements and in-hand material. We’ll give you a firm schedule per order so it can be planned against your Manhattan or Hamptons install date.

Do you handle delivery and installation across the New York area?

Yes. We coordinate white-glove delivery and installation throughout Manhattan, Brooklyn, Westchester, and the Hamptons, working with building requirements such as certificates of insurance and service-elevator scheduling on the projects that need them.
